With the drama academy we had to view their performance that they had put together and give our feedback on it, this was all done so both the media and drama groups could get a clear understanding of one another, so that we knew what had to be done, what had already been done and so their was no surprises when we would go off to film for the first time, this help establish our ideas for the group so we could see each others ideas and try to put them together so that it would form a professional piece of work, the key decisions made varied quite a lot, this is because their was a lot of compromising being made so that both groups were happy, our main issue we had when watching the performance was the fact that what they had done was very theatrical whilst we needed something more to a professional film level, we told them our thoughts on this and presented them with a storyboard so that our idea of what we was trying to produce could get through more clearly to them, the issue was raised of what they should wear, originally I along with my group wanted them to wear the clothes of the time period so that it would look as authentic as possible, however because of the actual cost we had to adapt our ideas slightly, from speaking to the group we all agreed that it might be easier for the performers to adapt a modern style for the film, this will include the goths wearing black type clothes and black make up so that they will look like actual goths whilst the Romans will be played as people dressed as ''chavs'' in tracksuits so that the two contrast each other well. When talking about how to make this more of a film so we would have a balance suited by everyone we discussed the shot types and positioning that would need to be used, from their original idea they was very close together which caused issues as it was really staged like a film should be, we told them to use the area around them more and be more open and because of this it does look a lot more professional.
When it comes to the actual film still being our vision I would say it no longer is, I am more happier with what has been changed and feel with my teem of people helping me film it will look really good, the issue is simply though that they want it to be theatrical and we want it to be fully film. We have a god balance where we have worked together so I am not worried about the final outcome or what it may actually look like but I do not feel we can get the best of of the scene now because of the two different viewpoints on how it will be done. I feel that on the day when we go of to start filming my team of Ryan, Lee and Hollie can capture a lot of good shots and put them together to make a scene that is of a professional level, the only issue we will have is getting them to adapt to a camera than a live audience, I feel that their are three specific actors that we can work with really well as they seemed very committed to the process of actually making the video and seemed to enjoy being in front of the camera, these people have important roles in the scene so seeing them perform to such a high level is a good thing for both of us as it will get them a good grade and by them being very motivated and giving a great performance it will be easier to capture the shots so that look more natural and realistic.
I have taken this scene below as I feel it is a good example of what I want from it, as you can see the people are spaced out really well which is good as it makes it seem more realistic unlike when people are on stage and cramped together, in the actual park they will be more spaced out and have a lot more of things going on in the background which will feature in the cutaways we put in. Whilst people are speaking we want to follow the basic conventions of film by using close ups of their faces whilst we have cutaways between shots so that the characters are established easier and it looks like a film.
